YEAR/SERIES/MODEL:
In 1994, Tama's "Rockstar" series was in its final, most sophisticated production run - bridging the previous eras of the "Artstar I/II" and affiliated models with the new "Starclassic" line.
This kit is essentially one of the RS522X catalogue models, with 1 additional high tom - the RTT10X Rack Tom (10 batter side x 8 depth), which can be seen in the RS620X catalogue photo.
Made with a Philippine Mahogany core, these wood shells are great for classic rock, AOR, soul, funk and other music needing drums w/ 'body' - and they tend to sound best for these styles with heavier, 2-ply heads and lower tunings.
They can also easily support jazz/fusion players, though - especially when using light and/or traditional coated heads.
Very versatile kit, all told, and all drums remain well-kept!!
