Hi Mark, the Zildjian Z snap or "Zil" Snap is the brass colored toggle used instead of a wing nut and sleeve for cymbal installation. These originally came out in the 60s 0r 70s. It threads onto the top of the stand and you can swivel the toggle to put cymbal in place and flip back toggle horizontally to keep the cymbal from coming off while playing...easily removed and you can install a rubber sleeve and wing nut if you'd like.
