I’m regretfully offering this beautiful Slingerland Radio King. I can’t have drums sitting on a shelf. Hence, I’ll continue to play my 100+ Leedy Nickel over Brass drum and part with this fantastic sounding classic.
I have been playing it for a couple weeks. It’s a complete different experience in sound. Warm and organic are a couple words I can say about this instrument.
A few things about the actual construction. This drum looks better in person than the photos. It looks like a shiny new silver sparkle, but it was originally gold sparkle. Amazing how it morphed into silver. I’ve included a photo where you can through the edge.
The clamshell throw off works great. At the 12 o’clock position the snares are off. The butt end knob is sensitive and fine tunes the snare wires very well.
The snares are on at either 3 or 9 o’clock.
The interior photos show that the shell is in excellent condition. One piece Slingerland Radio Kings are amazing. (The Phillips head screws were added - not original)
New snares and drumheads make this drum sound great.
The 5 1/2 x 14 bag is included. The original rims are also included. My magnet doesn’t stick to the originals, I believe they are chrome over brass. The steel hoops currently on the drum sound great.
I’m not a vintage expert. I don’t know what year the drum was made. I’ve included a few excerpts from the Cook Slingerland book.
This can be a trophy drum or a real player.
I prefer local pick up but shipping options at buyers expense is possible.
