I have a working P83 but the rounded nut that receives the snare tension screw does not stay attached when not under tension. Was there a weld or some other method of attachment to keep this piece in place? Nothing looks broken. When on the drum, it works perfectly. Thanks

5 years agoNo, it was a press fit... no weld or glue. Sadly, these sometimes loosen up over the years. If it is bothering you, perhaps you could add some 2-part epoxy or CA glue.... but if it stays attached under tension, why worry about it? NAD

5 years agoThanks Nad...is there a specific product that you could recommend?

5 years agoMaybe some JB Weld or any good quality two-part epoxy (if you want something clear), but I would use sparingly... use just enough to take up the slack/slop in the hole.
Clean the parts really good to get off any oil or dirt (alcohol works good) and put a little of the mixed epoxy on the “rounded nut” (on the end that into the hole), then insert it in the hole in the plate, wipe off the worse of the excess and let it dry good before you reassemble the drum.
I can’t guarantee this will solve your problem, because I have never done such a repair.... My next attempt (if it doesn’t work) would be to try a punch and hammer to nick the edge and maybe it would hold it..... let me know what happens… NAD

5 years agoWill try the glue but not the punch. It is only an issue when the assembly is completely apart but in the event that I do take it apart again, I just want t o make sure I don't lose the nut.
Thanks for the suggestion.
